Hmm… That title sounds like I’m a member of AA ready to start a new life of sobriety! Not really the tone I wanted. Perhaps what I am looking for is some introspection about how food interacts with my daily life. My sister recently told me ”I think about food way too much”. Maybe that describes me also. I work as a food scientist. My hobbies include cooking and gardening. I have a MS in nutrition as an academic background. So now I decide to waste even more time writing a blog about my relationship with food? Maybe I should just “get a life” and start doing things like dirt biking and listening to country music?
Probably not going to happen. What follows will try to add some insight into how food shapes who I am.
You know, there are some excellent dirt bike trails in your part of the country…
But seriously, I don’t think it’s strange or obsessive to think about food a lot. We eat 3, 4, 5 times a day. I feel like a lot of problems our culture has with food (with how we eat and how we produce food, both) has to do with not thinking enough about it and its implications in our lives.
